MUNATO - A great Success!

The Munato Festival 2008 was a great success. Thousands of people flocked to the Provincial Capitol of Sarangani to enjoy the festivities.

The opening ceremony was graced by no other than Vice President Noli De Castro who promises to promote the tourism of Sarangani. He declares to be back in Sarangani for her 18th birthday (which should fall this 2010). He also opened the Fabli Guni and looked at all the provincial showcases as each municipality dressed their booth in themes to their One Town One Product (OTOP)

Joey Ayala show featured the designers from Sarangani namely Emi Ingles and Romeo Young, They gave the crowd a surprise.  Even Gov. Miguel Dominguez and Vice Gov. Steve Solon ramped the stage giving the audience delight.  Even the IPs that watched the show danced on stage with Joey Ayala as he did his repertoire while teaching his audience about the environment.

Walkway Chalk Drawing gave highlight to the talents of Sarangans in art. The top 3 winner each got a scholarship for Animation at the  ACLC Gen San.

Tribal Sports was also observed as different tribes did their best in traditional sports such as the Sbuni, Gamti, and others.

Other highlights of the event was the inauguration of the Justice on Wheels (JoW), a bus that was converted as a mobile court. This will be of great use to Sarangani that currently has one sala for regional court.  This JoW will be a big help to speed up the judiciary work necessary in the province. Sec. Puno came as the special guest of this occassion.

The Munato Arcade had more to offer this year with variety of food, beverage, and  product vendors always offering something to varid visitors of Sarangani.  It was full almost every night with people enjoying and merry making.

The Motocross is now even larger as Castrol and Honda sponsors the "Break the Speed limit" with different levels of competitive motocross. Here over 100 bikers came from all over the country to participate.

Then, of course, the SUGARFREE concert co-sponsored by San Miguel, brought the party to the hilt where thousands listened to them play their rock tunes.

It was one rocking Munato. We shall see it again next year!
